Driven by rising travel from Muslim-majority countries like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Middle East, Hanoi is emerging as a top destination for Halal tourism. The global Halal travel market is projected to surpass USD 300 billion by 2026, and Hanoi is actively positioning itself to serve this growing demand.
Vietnam’s Prime Minister has backed a national strategy to attract Muslim travelers. With over 2.2 billion Muslims worldwide, Hanoi is taking steps to offer Halal-certified services, Muslim-friendly hospitality, and culturally respectful experiences.
In 2024, 15% of Hanoi’s international visitors came from Muslim-majority countries. Key attractions like Al-Noor Mosque in the Hoan Kiem District serve as important religious sites, while hotels such as Melia Hanoi, InterContinental, JW Marriott, and Sofitel now offer Halal-certified food and services.
Restaurants like D’Lions and Khazaana are also gaining popularity for serving certified Halal cuisine.
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and local partners are working to build a strong Halal ecosystem. This includes training programs, tourism guides, and promotional efforts to boost trust and awareness.
Hanoi’s focus on inclusivity, supported by strategic policies and investment, is making it a rising star in Halal tourism.
