15 more Taipei spots certified as Muslim-friendly

Taipei Deputy Mayor Tsai Ping-kun announced that seven attractions, seven hotels, and a B&B have obtained halal certification this year to provide a more welcoming environment for Muslim tourists to the city, UDN reported.

Taipei became the first city in Taiwan to assist tourist attractions and businesses in becoming Muslim-friendly in 2019. Since then, up to 41 hotels have been halal-certified, the most in the country, according to strict guidelines.

Tsai said that eight more lodging businesses underwent changes this year, totaling 900 rooms for Muslim travelers.

According to a 2019 survey conducted by the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism, Muslim tourists are drawn to the city because of its charming scenery, folk customs and culture, transportation convenience, cleanliness, and friendliness of its people.

The five-star Taipei Marriott Hotel, centrally located Cosmos Hotel Taipei, Monka Hotel, and FX Hotel Taipei are among the new halal-certified accommodations in Taipei that cater to a wide range of travelers’ needs. K Hotels Taipei’s Chang-An and Dunnan locations cater to business travelers, while Player Hostel caters to young Muslim backpackers.

Futian Village Eco-Educational Farm B&B, Taiwan’s only halal-certified B&B, is also located in Taipei.

The Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry, Cao’s Flower Field , the Hydrangea Terraced Fields , Jai Fu Calla Lily Garden , Organic Farm , and White Rock Organic Farm are among the recommendations for new private tourist attractions and leisure spots.
